Users / Clinical

RSscan provides a variety of advanced pressure measurement systems (Plate, insole and flexible) to clinicians around the world. The most popular systems for the clinician are the footscan® plates, due to their high specification, ease of use and detailed software for clinical analysis.

Why add footscan® to your centre?

To give your patients the best possible solution to their problems, the footscan® system allows the clinician to collect information about foot mechanics that is just too fast for the eye, or standard video camera to capture. The more information that the clinician has, the greater the accuracy in diagnosis and successful treatment, this can only add to the clinics reputation and lead to an increase in business.

What system and software do I choose?

Systems Overview

The systems are available in three sizes, 0.5m, 1m & 2m, this gives the clinician the scope to choose the most relevant system in terms of space available, need for portability and funding available. Speed of the systems is never a problem as the main footscan® systems all take between 300 and 500 pictures, giving the detailed data that is needed when prescribing from pressure data.

The systems are also very robust; universities have used them to test horses and cattle! As well as testing the barefoot on the plate to establish problems with the barefoot mechanics, shod trials can be taken to examine the role that a patients footwear is playing in causing their symptoms and then how this alters following an orthotic intervention. Software Overview

There are no software license restrictions with the footscan® software, so a clinician may install it on more than one computer, either at the same clinic, or on computers in different clinic locations.

Gait software

This allows the clinician to test the patient dynamically over the plate, giving detailed analysis of the pressure transfer under the foot during the stance phase. By dividing the foot into relevant zones, the dynamic movements of the foot can be thoroughly assessed and the relevant information transferred into the chosen treatment. Read more...

Balance software

This allows patient balance and stability to be measured while performing chosen movements on the plate. The software allows comparison of chosen movements, allowing for a vast range of applications; it could be how a pair of shoes helps stabilise an elderly patient; it could be before and after a 6 week period of rehabilitation to see how the exercise programme followed by the patient has improved muscle function. Whatever is being looked at, the clinician is provided with objective information to show to the patients. read more...
